NON-ATTENDANCE FORMS FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Thank you to those parents who have returned a form. We would appreciate you filling out a form if your child is going to be away so that our staff roster can be planned for this period. Thanks.

TRANSITION TO SCHOOL
We have begun working with local primary schools on how we can support children’s transition to school.
One of the things that has come up in the early stages of our work is the New Entrants teachers like to see the children’s profile books.
It has been suggested by Waimataitai that if the children can bring their profile book with them on their school visits, the teacher can use this during the visit as an opportunity to work alongside your children, while learning a bit more about them.
We think this is a great idea and we really encourage you to take the book along with you. We will do our best to help you remember!
We also encourage you, if not done so already, to enroll your child at your school of choice. The earlier the school knows, the better they can plan.(Amy)

KIA ORA FROM THE PUKEKO ROOM
What a better way to extend our children’s curiosity, than a trip to our local museum. For many this was a new and intriguing experience. With the help and assistance of Keeley (the museum assistant), the children had fun exploring and being hands on with examples of our local wild life, from bats to a kiwi.
It was also an opportunity for tamariki to develop understanding of what the Timaru district looked like in its early stages and throughout its development.
One of the funniest points of the trip was watching the children learn how to use the phone from an old telephone booth.
This was a fun filled morning and we would like to extend a huge thank you to Janelle Brickle for acting as parent help for us.
