KIA ORA FROM THE PUKEKO ROOM
Connecting with Nature
The sudden downpour of rain early last week, provided opportunities for our tamariki to connect with mother nature and explore the wonderment and magic that she provides. Who can make the biggest splash? Who can jump the length of this puddle or that puddle? Wow!!! Look at the way the water moves, and how high it goes when we jump in to it (Just a few statements overheard by teachers)
Of course maths, science, and physical skills are all being developed and extended here, but for many it was the simple pleasure of having the freedom to get as wet and as muddy as they wanted and to explore with no limits or boundaries that filled their hearts with joy and gave them a new appreciation and wonderment of the world around them.

KIA ORA FROM THE KĀKĀ ROOM
The weeks seem to be flying by!!
This month the tamariki have all been engaging in messy play and have been enjoying using all their sensors to explore it. Messy play gives children the opportunity to experience a wide range of sensory experiences and allows children opportunities to learn about different textures and materials. Messy play is wonderful as it can develop hand–eye coordination and allows the tamariki to practice pouring, measuring and mixing.
These activities are often enjoyed as a group which provides opportunities for the tamariki to work with and alongside others.
We are loving supporting the tamariki with this and will be sure to keep providing messy play!
