BOT PROFILE
Shaun Campbell
Kia Ora Creative Corner Whanau,
I am Shaun Campbell and I am entering my third year on the Creative Corner Board. I have two boys at Creative Corner; Oliver aged 3 and William aged 2, with Harriet sure to start in a few short months. I am always happy to talk about Creative Corner; the teachers do a great job and my kids are excited every time they walk in the door. We are in a great position as a community organisation with a real family atmosphere our biggest strength. The previous board has done a great job getting us into this new Centre which is perfect for our needs. I look forward to the year ahead and working with the other board members, staff and the creative corner community to make it the best place we can.

Poroporoaki (Farewell) to Olivia Gilmour who leaves our Kaka’s room, and Lillith Beaumont and Inara Malama who both turn 5 and head off to school. Happy school days girls.
THANK YOU
The BOT and staff would like to thank Sara Valentine for her work and extra effort whilst being on the Board of Trustees. This has been very much appreciated by us all.
MOVIE NIGHT AND RAFFLE FUNDRAISER
This was a successful fundraiser once again. Thank you to all families who supported this event.
We were fortunate to receive a number of donations for a raffle for the night. Thank you to Charlotte Foster of Sweeney Todd’s, Bec Campbell of Hoof Children’s Shoes, Clarissa Doran of Oxford Restaurant, Jess Loveday of Stables Café, plus other Timaru businesses for their donations of wonderful prizes. The night produced a profit of $1638.00.
USE OF PEANUT BUTTER AT THE CENTRE
As we have some children who are allergic to peanuts, we ask that peanut butter not be brought into the Centre. Peanuts and muesli bars are okay as we can better monitor these but with peanut butter it can be more easily spread. Please enjoy peanut butter at home. 
SETTING UP APs TO PAY ACCOUNTS
We are finding that child accounts being paid via AP can be a more convenient way for both the Centre and parents to ensure accounts are being paid in a timely fashion. Thank you to those families who already pay their accounts via AP. If you have any questions please see Leesa or Kate, thanks.
FRONT WHITE GATE
Just a reminder to ensure this gate is shut after you go through it. It can, at times, not click shut properly, and this can be a hazard for the children leaving the Centre and being able to go through the open gate.
NEW LOOK TE WHARIKI
The Early Childhood curriculum has been updated, We at the Centre have only received the new book and information on Friday, 19 May. The teachers in the Centre will be learning about this at workshops in the coming weeks and changes that have been made. Overal the content is very similar to the previous curriculum document. There are flyers at the front desk that you can take to look at what underpins and guides our teaching and learning at Creative Corner.
CHAIRS
We have bought new chairs for the children in the Pukeko room. Therefore we have 35 small wooden chairs that we are looking to sell on. If you are interested please put your name down at the desk. We are selling these for only $10 each to help recoup some of the cost of the new chairs. Great bargin get in quick as when they are sold we have no more  These can be viewed at CCELC.

ECE LEADERS SOUTH CANTERBURY
Creative Corner is part of the EC Leaders South Canterbury Inc, which is a group of managers and leaders from 16 pre-schools, kindergartens and home based care around South Canterbury.
Amy was one of the teachers helping to form this group, and the purpose is to share expertise and knowledge, provide a place for agencies who want to know something from the Early Childhood Education Sector to contact, and to provide some Professional Development within our teaching community.
At the meeting last week we had a visit from Richard Spackman the Director of Ricoh, along with Travis Cook and Rymi Sakimura, Account Manager at Heartland Design and Print, as they are providing sponsorship to the group to help provide professional development etc to the Early Childhood community. They presented a small gift to each of the 16 Centres, a Bluetooth Speaker. This was a very generous gift and one that our Centre can use on a daily basis. Thank you very much to Ricoh and Heartland -Design and Print.

We encourage you to buy these tickets or sell to friends as we will be able to purchase further resources for your children to use at the Centre with the money made from this fundraiser. .We would appreciate payment as soon as possible.
Payment can be made directly to our fundraising account number 03-0887-0265519-01, reference your child’s name.
We need to know numbers by Monday, 8 May to allow time to advise the movie theatre the number going.
TOYS FROM HOME
We ask that children refrain from bringing toys to Creative Corner from home. While it is great they want to show others their special things, when toys from home are at the Centre it can create conflicts. As much as we would like to control what happens with a child’s toy, it has the potential to get damaged.
We ask that children’s toys remain at home for them to enjoy after preschool.
